Tropical Storm Melissa is still moving at a crawl through the Caribbean Sea, and heavy rain is ongoing for the Greater Antilles. Up to 20 inches of additional rain are possible, especially for Jamaica and the island of Hispaniola. Rain falling on the mountainous terrain of Haiti and the Dominican Republic could contribute to life-threatening flash flooding and landslides, with potentially major damage to infrastructure. A landfall is also now expected from Melissa next week for Jamaica and Cuba.
