Weather Underground presents "Hurricane Formation" in the North Atlantic. Forecasts predicted that the 2013 hurricane season would be an active one, but those forecasts did not pan out. This graphic describes all the various factors that have to come together in order to generate a hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean.
